Advertising Block

Annoying telephone marketing

Many customers complain about unwanted advertising - annoying cold calls and telephone surveys are a particular nuisance. We have put together some information on how you can to about protecting yourself.

If you do not wish to receive advertising, you may choose to have your address flagged with an asterisk * free of charge in Directories products. This advertising block flag (*) is binding for all advertisers! Directories makes all addresses flagged with an asterisk (*) available to other providers of telephone directory products. However, Directories assumes no liability for situations in which third parties disregard this advertising block, e.g. if addresses are illegally copied from Directories products. Directories does not engage in address sales.

Please note: We would like to point out that addresses flagged for an advertising block (*) will not automatically be entered into the Swiss direct marketing association's "Robinson list". For an advertising block to take effect for address sales, please also request a listing in the "Robinson List for Addressed Advertising Material" and the "Robinson List for Direct Sales" (door-to-door sales).

Advertising block for telemarketing

At the beginning of 2008, the Swiss Contact Center Association CallNet.ch started to give all call centres access to a tool enabling them to compare their telemarketing lists with the Directories advertising block
flags (*)
. Use is on a voluntary basis. CallNet.ch members who have signed the CallNet.ch Code of Honour respect the block. The Directories advertising block flags are updated regularly in the CallNet.ch telemarketing block list.

Unfortunately, not all call centres and telemarketing firms are members of the CallNet.ch association and have consequently not signed the Code of Honour. The advertising block is not applicable for companies that contact their customers by phone on the basis of existing customer relationships in order to make offers. If they do not wish to receive any more calls, however, customers may request the contacting company or call centre to put their names on a block list.
